Big bold statement? Far fetched answer to modern dilemas like commuter polution (Global warming and all its problems), loneliness, anxiety, feeling lost or disconnected? Maybe, the thing is, this is a solution, not the sole one. Think about that, this will help, greatly so, but not cure our modern problems. What makes people go on vacation? Why do people travel 1000’s of miles to visit a “better” destination where they can think clearly and resolve issues in their lives? What makes young people wear headsets that promise an alternative reality to the one they currently experience? Why do people love spending time going down the rabbit whole of Youtube and other sites when they are bored? What, makes us bored? 

I believe the answer to all of these questions is that we are seeking a place, a place that helps us to feel useful, loved, included, whatever the feeling or label; we want to feel like we can be of service to  something larger than ourselves. All these technolgies won’t get us there. I promise people will become bored, or ultimately be destroyed by them. 

What if the next Big thing was not so much a new technology, or solely that, but something old that we forgot about in our hustle and bustle of trying to make a buck. What if the next solution, maybe even the final one, was created not by techies, but by real estate developers, engineers, and people who believed in the power of communities? Big Bold Statement? Well, i think we’re headed here out of necesity due to current problems that are overwhelming us all. 

What would a community look like? First let me say I’ve been to one but by no means is it the only way to go about proping one up. The main feature of these sexy beasts is that everything or most everything you would ever need in life was provided right in the property you live in. The property, would include, restaurants, a mall, grocery store, gym, theater, bank, salon, basically think of all the things you drive to go get, all those things would be there. 

I’m not saying communities are the sole answer to everything, but, the big thing is that it would provide a base, foundation for human evolution. Inside these communites the sky is the limit. People could set up meetings, activites, clubs, schools, all kinds of creative ways to connect people. Think of it as a Live facebook. Instead of posting on a virtual forum, we would post advertisements, requests, offers, whatever on a community board. Like I said, this isn’t the only community model, just one. 

Now, don’t think all the other technologies are useless, no, we still need cars, computers, and all the rest of it, but maybe not so much of it. Those things are great and can advance things, but the community foundation will be what aids our disconnect, one of the biggest problems in our modern society. Everyone loves a facebook, we love twitter, instagram, but what if these communites were not virtual, not digital, but real? 

What if community was the next and final big thing? The answer to a sadly disconnected yet logged in existence that lacks the touch of human interaction?
