The year is 2028, elections were scrapped, but everyone knows who’s captain. The new leaders aren’t concerned with the welfare of the population, only about increasing their wealth and control through technological means. A.I. has been unleashed everywhere; smart homes are filled with gadgets used to spy on citizens. You can’t have a regular conversation with family and friends without risking your freedom; what’s left of it.
It’s Curfew time, but I’m safe; I’m in my backyard enjoying nature. Suddenly, I hear a buzzing sound, then a light shines forth from a fluttering object in the air aiming it straight at me. It’s one of those A.I. spy drones the government is using to collect data. Damn, I can’t even get fresh air on my own property.
In my head, all sorts of thoughts whirled around. Mainly about the stupid curfew and how little I enjoy the outdoors since it started. It was implemented nationwide as a means to avert a “Complete Breakdown of Society,” due to “People’s inability to behave decently.” Another fable woven together by those greedy, money hoarding thieves of happiness! Geez I kept thinking, how only 4 years ago, when we had a chance, we could’ve stopped this draconian disaster. All these rules and laws, strictly enforced by A.I. robots sucked the life out of life; now we’re paying for it.
Back to the scene of the “crime.” Finally, after analyzing, recording, and possibly storing data for future reference, the drone lowers itself and hands me a ticket for breaking the curfew. I began stating my case about being on my property as he hands me another; this one for, “disorderly conduct.” Apparently, I’m not suppose to talk to the AI authority without being asked.
There goes my night, back inside, hardly anything happening here. TV’s definitely not fun, all that is is another spy device keeping the same lie going; the lie about how, “Everything’s okay, it’s normal, get use to it, we’ll be alright.” Back to bed I guess.
Good night strange new world. Somebody wake me when this is over.
End of story.
Imagine a future, not too far away, where humans didn’t matter; not only to A.I. robots, but more importantly to a small group of immoral “people” who use the technology to grow their wealth by controlling every aspect of life. Generally, we tend to believe robots will control everything, but that is a mistake! It’s the people in charge of the technology, who retain large amounts of wealth, and who control what policies govern us that deserve our attention!.
In this reality, people matter only as much as they can provide amusement and a revenue stream for the wealthy and dumb. Freedom, is what a minority of “people” decide it is. After a generation or so, everything will be different, and “normal” too. Anyone who thinks or acts in contrast to that new “normal” is in the way of “social harmony.” Have you read the news lately? Japanese and American scientist have found something (some kind of ore or mineral) they believe will power the world for the next 100k years! That’s great isn’t it? But, what happens when “power the world” means power the plans of a greedy few to control life for the rest of us? 100k years of human torment perpetuated by a small sinister band of “men” seems like the worst Halloween story to have to hear, or worse, live through.
All is not lost however, and the future is always open to change. If, once again, we strive to become lawyers, salesmen, police officers, firemen, ambulatory personnel, nurses, doctors, farmers, whatever inspires us, then we can avoid such a desolate fate and can transform our future from bleak to bright; all it takes is faith, action, and know how.
Alternatively, we can sit back and watch as A.I. takes over every aspect of life. Unfortunately, the consequences of that are far worse than many of us are prepared to deal with. The future, belongs not to the robots, but to men ready and responsible enough to own as well as manage it.

The classic film that might have started the world’s fascination with AI robots, or at least fueled the fascination amply. Good story, special effects, humor, and interesting characters. A must buy to get a firm grasp of what an AI future could look like.
A cool 80’s robot movie with more of a family audience in mind. I loved it as a kid. I always think the 80’s made some of the best movies!
The last 80’s movie on our list. A half human half robot cop is put on the force experimentally. What happens next? You’ll have to watch.
4. A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
A boy so real but who’s actually an A.I. robot tries to find his place in a human world. Steering a little away from the somewhat violent nature of our first 3 80’s movies this one is more for the entire family.
If we could predict bad behavior before it happened do we have a right to intervene and charge individuals for an offense yet to be perpetuated? That’s the moral dilemma this movie delves into.
A film about good vs. bad robots and the humans they either want to protect or destroy. A story that’s really about our humanity if we listen closely; with out of this world special effects!
Ok, what do you get when you mix a lusty A.I. robot and a lonely human? Right, so this one’s for adults!
An A.I. that wants to do good by helping humans and fighting against an oppressive class of robots with opposite goals? I’m in! A cool mix of A.I., martial arts, and special effects!
A love story involving a man and his A.I. lover. A lot going on here but have you ever been in a complicated relationship? I think you just met your match.
10. Archive (2020)
A man loses the woman he loves and tries to bring her back using advanced robotic technologies. Would you bring someone you loved back to life after they’re pronounced dead? A love story? Well, it depends who’s asked the question.
That’s my top 10 A.I. movies arranged from earliest to most recently released giving you a sense of how the A.I. stories have evolved.
